Dusty

Orange cat sitting on a wooden table indoors

Dusty is a special little boy who sees the world with innocence and wonder.  He's the most playful of the bunch, endlessly curious about what we're up to, with the gentlest soul you could imagine.  He would never hurt anyone.

Two cats, one gray and one orange, peeking out from a black pet carrier.

When the shelter said that Dusty would love to be adopted with his friend, we weren't prepared for the bond we saw.  His love for Ned was truly remarkable - walking side by side, rubbing necks the entire way.

Out of the three, he was the least healthy.  He had a constant runny nose, was underweight and missing a lot of fur, which made his skinny, bony frame even more noticeable.  He was a very hungry boy, but once he no longer needed to compete for food, he put on weight and regrew his fur.

It didn't take long for Dusty to figure out that we gave really good snuggles and he quickly became accustomed to pets; leaning into our hands for neck scratches and even rolling over to expose his tummy for a rub.

His tiny one-syllable meow that sounds more like a "meep" than it does a meow.  He's the most talkative when he's rubbing his face against Ned or gently nuzzling our legs to beg for a good tummy rub.

Dusty is a stuffed mouse fanatic.  He bats them around the house, loses them under the furniture, and tries with all his might to retrieve them.  We know when he's lost them all because he will find other ways to entertain himself, usually resorting to some kind of mischief. When he hears furniture moving, he comes trotting in to see how many mice he will have to play with now.

He is such a curious little guy - intrigued by everything.  If we're unloading the dishwasher, he's there climbing on the door.  If we open a cabinet, he needs to see what's inside.  Even TV fascinates him and he insists on the closest view he can get.
